If someone is trying to rob or hurt me can i use an airsoft gun for self defense?

Many states consider BB/Airsoft the same as firearms. If that's the case you would be charged the same as if you pulled a real gun on somebody. I doubt a jury would convict you of that if somebody attacked you while you had it for sport, but if you were carrying it for self defense that wouldn't look good at all. You are not required to run away if somebody directly attacks you, you can defend yourself. If they just run there mouth however you can't just pull a gun because your scared. That would be brandishing a firearm and YOU would be charged. Even if you have a real gun legally. I carry a gun daily, and believe me it A LOT of responsibly. If you are really worried about this stuff, get your firearms permit in your state. Being 18 you can't buy a handgun from a dealer, but it many states it's legal for you to own one if you buy it from a private party. But you'd have to look into your states laws. You would most likely have to open carry it though since you usually need to be 21 to conceal. I see many 18-20 yr old's open carry for this same reason.
