Quick question about mics and recording?

My mic was working perfectly fine when I used it last time it was picking up my voice fine, but now I'm trying to record and it keeps crackling and popping for no reason while I am recording. My mic shouldn't be doing that, and it's not because of my voice being to loud or close to it....and suggestions?
