What is the meaning of the poem "My country” by Dorothea Mackellar mean?
It's about Australia, you know, the land down under, this poem is a hymn to some of us like any patriotc poem or song(like Danny boy to the Irish)you have to be one.I digress,it's about the vast red centre with sheep stations(ranches )bigger than some european countries and the thousands of miles of desert, the rugged mountain ranges are called the great divide extending 4,000 miles down the east coast dividing the red center from the fertile east coast, the droughts last for years and we have one now,we are drying up but they will be broken by thunderstorms resembling a series of atomic detonations!! it's about the vastness ,to be able to see mountains 200 miles away all surrounded by saphire blue and emerald green oceans, the terror is that she can turn on you if you don't know her and cooperate,eg go into the desert un prepared or the rivers and oceans, know the snakes, spiders ,crocodiles ,sharks and other native animals.hope this helps.
